Altcoin Supply Tightens – Traders, Is the Altseason Story Back?

Altcoins have struggled to establish a clear trend as liquidity remains concentrated in one asset class. While some tokens continue to face profit-taking and FX inflows, others are starting to show signs of supply tightening.

In this context, Gate’s net flow data indicates that there is a selective rotation of capital into the altcoin sector rather than a complete exit from the space. Between late 2025 and mid-June 2026, many asset classes demonstrated consistent withdrawal dominance behavior.

When withdrawals occur for extended periods of time, it generally signals investor activity. The nature of this investor activity can vary and may include either selling or simply moving coins.

As these capital outflows continued, accumulation signals began to strengthen. On the other hand, Ethereum (ETH), Chainlink (LINK), Uniswap (UNI), and 1Inch (1INCH) showed higher deposit activity than withdrawals.

Therefore, capital appears to be flowing into select altcoins rather than supporting the market uniformly. If general conditions improve, assets already showing sustained capital outflows could be better positioned to attract speculative demand.

Altcoins show signs of recovery

As capital shifts to specific altcoins, the dwindling supply of exchanges has begun to show similar signs of this transition within the broader market.

The Altcoin Cycle Signal has now reached the Altcoin Season at 86. This is the highest number since late 2022. Yet, in early 2024 and early 2025, the signal had mostly remained below the critical threshold of 50, further indicating that the markets were dominated by Bitcoin (BTC).

The momentum picked up as the signal moved closer to 100, showing that most willing sellers of altcoins sold. Unlike previous cycles, Bitcoin continued to dominate the entire market, with its price falling from over $80,000 to $60,000.

Therefore, even though there appears to be a growing appetite for taking greater risks (thanks to increased scale), a long-term move will likely have to wait for Bitcoin to stabilize before seeing a full movement of capital throughout the altcoin space.

Final summary

  • Altcoins are showing early accumulation signals as exchange outflows increase and available supply continues to tighten.
  • The breadth of the Altcoin market is improving, although wider participation may depend on the stability of Bitcoin.
