Altcoins strongly progressed last week while Bitcoin (BTC) held near record levels, moving market leadership to higher tokens, according to the latest edition of the “Bitfinex Alpha” report.
Bitcoin reached a summit of $ 123,054, a rise of 65% of its lower April, before entering a side range between $ 116,000 and $ 120,000.
While the flagship crypto entered a consolidation phase, its share of THE Total market capitalization of cryptography fell by 6.9% After seven consecutive daily decreases in the dominance index, the most steep decline since December 2023.
Such dominance contractions without simultaneous sale of BTC historically marked the start of the phases led by Altcoin.
Grands-caps biting the catch-up rally
Ethereum (ETH) joined 19.45% and XRP 21.4% during the week. Meanwhile, the market index excluding stablescoins and the ten main assets, called the “other” index, climbed 35%, equivalent to around 85 billion dollars.
Solana (soil) also outclassed, drawing liquidity from Bitcoin, traders were looking for a greater advantage. The extent of the decision signals a broader participation beyond the accumulation of early cycle BTC, a typical extensions model in the middle of the cycle when investors increase risk tolerance.
Despite the relative loss, Bitcoin is still negotiated above the cost base of 95% of the parts in circulation.
Long -term holders have gone to net distribution, transferring parts to portfolios, FNBs and short -term retail participants.
The cash price is now just below the short -term holder strip almost $ 120,000, a level that historically attracts profit. The next statistical resistance is nearly $ 136,000.
This structure leaves Bitcoin fundamentally firm but more reactive to DIP, while altcoins capture incremental flows.
Market prospects
The market mechanisms suggest a stick pass rather than a reversal. Bitcoin consolidation above the cost made maintains a support floor, but the relative dynamics rest with altcoins because capital runs.
The duration of the rotation will be based on the continuous demand for Bitcoin and the liquidity sustained in the large capitalization tokens.
For the moment, the dispersion of performance defines the landscape, the altcoins fixing the pace while Bitcoin diges the previous gains.
