The Ethereum Foundation is awarding $1 million in grants to organizations that educate governments and policymakers about Ethereum and blockchain technology. We encourage other members of the Ethereum community to support their important work.

A space to grow and do good

We understand that transformative technologies raise new questions for regulators and governments. However, regulators must balance protecting their citizens from bad actors and fraud, while supporting the growth of new industries. The Ethereum community can play a positive role in this process, providing information and resources to policymakers and governments.

The good news is that there are a growing number of extraordinary organizations taking on this role for our community, some focused exclusively on Ethereum and blockchain and others who understand its potential as a tool to fulfill their missions broader confidentiality requirements. transparency, financial inclusion and beyond.

Support those who support us all

For educators

The Ethereum Foundation is offering grants totaling $500,000 to three of the organizations that have helped lead the way in training policymakers and regulators:

  • Coin Center: America’s leading nonprofit organization focused on policy issues facing blockchain networks
  • Electronic Frontier Foundation: A leading nonprofit organization advocating for digital privacy, free speech, and innovation
  • Fight for the future: A grassroots activism group fighting for a future where technology is a force of liberation, not oppression.

Help us go further

However, there are many other organizations that deserve community support. We believe it is crucial that the broader Ethereum community has a say in how to allocate funds to promote education on these important topics.

So, in addition to the above grants, we are also providing a grant of USD 500,000 to the Gitcoin corresponding pool for their next cycle of advocacy.

Gitcoin crowdfunding rounds leverage quadratic funding, in which individual donations signal community sentiment in a given grant pool. During the giving period, grant recipients seek funds from the community. The number of contributions and the total amount contributed to their project influence the total amount allocated from the matching pool. The Gitcoin round will provide the community with the opportunity to decide which advocacy nonprofits should receive additional funding for their work.

We encourage everyone to participate in the Gitcoin round (they will announce more details soon) and help educate governments on the potential of what we are building together, so that we can create a regulatory environment that allows our community to make so much good. as possible.

Stay tuned to learn more about supporting educational initiatives, including news from our Fellowsupdates on community resources and more.
