During the meeting between Bukele and Milei, topics such as energy, trade and security were formally discussed, but there was no press conference or official statement. The meeting between Vice President Villarruel and President Bukele extended beyond general diplomacy, focusing intensely on BTC and its integration into national financial systems.
“I really wanted to take advantage of these brief minutes to talk to you about Bitcoin, because it is something that interests me a lot, as well as the Volcano Bonds project,” said Vice President Villarruel in a brief video broadcast on X. In response to this, President Bukele expressed his enthusiasm: “We can happily talk about Bitcoin and everything related to it. »

The discussions also covered the operational and regulatory frameworks required for crypto assets. Villarruel expressed deep interest in the role of the CNAD and its regulatory achievements. “You have the first control body of the National Commission, this also interests me because it is the first that I know of which is constituted for this purpose”, she underlined during her meeting with the Salvadoran president Bukele.
This sentiment was later echoed on her social media, where she showed her desire to better understand El Salvador’s strategies for regulating Bitcoins and crypto assets. Villarruel wrote via X: “Visit of Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele to the Senate of the Argentine Nation. We were able to talk about the implementation of Bitcoin, the creation of the CNAD (National Commission for Digital Assets) which is the first organization which provides a legal framework and regulation of cryptographic assets.
In May this year, a delegation including Argentina’s Security Minister Patricia Bullrich and leaders of Argentina’s National Securities Commission (CNV) visited El Salvador. They met with Juan Carlos Reyes, president of El Salvador’s National Commission for Digital Assets (CNAD), to discuss the nuances of managing digital assets at the national level.
“We want to strengthen ties with the Republic of El Salvador and that is why we will explore the possibility of signing collaboration agreements with it,” commented Roberto E. Silva, president of the CNV, during these discussions.
At press time, BTC was trading at $61,618.
