The transaction, worth more than $ 9 billion at current prices, was one of the largest notional sales in Bitcoin ever recorded. Galaxy said that the agreement was part of the early investor inheritance planning strategy and represents one of the most important outings in Bitcoin history.

The effects of the sale were felt Thursday evening and early Friday morning while Bitcoin fell to $ 115,000. A cryptocurrency analyst noted that more than 32,000 BTCs, linked to Galaxy Digital, were deposited in the exchanges in a short window, contributing to the clear drop.

Friday afternoon, Bitcoin stabilized and started climbing again, the asset currently exchanging about $ 117,000.
