A consortium led by Brandon Lutnick’s Cantor Equity Partners is preparing one of the most ambitious treasure bets on Bitcoin since Microstrategy first transformed its proxy balance for the cryptocurrency market. According to a financial report Times, the special acquisition company (SPAC) supported by the Cantor Fitzgerald brokerage has aligned $ 3 billion combined with Bitcoin contributions from SoftBank, Tether and Bitfinex to sow a new entity called 21 capital.
Cantor, Softbank and Tether are betting big on Bitcoin
The agreement would mark a dramatic entry for Brandon Lutnick – which once again installed as a chair of Cantor Fitzgerald after his father, Howard Lunick, joined the Trump administration as Secretary of Commerce – in the center of a post -electoral renaissance expected in American digital investment. Three people informed of the plan told the FT that 21 capital would seek to reproduce “the success of Microstrategy, a unique software company which increased after having pivoted towards the investment of cryptocurrency”.
Cantor Equity Partners raised $ 200 million in its IPO of January. This money, as well as the bitcoin of the partners, would provide the main treasure of 21 capital. The ventilation cited in the report allocates $ 1.5 billion in Bitcoin from Tether, $ 900 million in softbank and $ 600 million Bitfinex. An additional convertible obligation of $ 350 million and an investment of $ 200 million in investment capital are organized “to buy additional bitcoin,” said the sources.
Once finished, the contributions of digital assets would convert into 21 capital shares at $ 10 per share, assessing bitcoin transferred to $ 85,000 per room. The plan is always fluid. The FT provides that “the agreement should be announced in the coming weeks, it may still not materialize and the figures could change”.
The accumulation of microstrategy multi -year bitcoin produced a market capitalization of $ 91 billion, and its model – by exchanging equity and low coupon debt to finance other purchases – becomes a play book for the adoption of digital assets of companies. The vehicle proposed by Lunick is the first spac expressly designed to imitate this large-scale model, and it happens that the Trump administration signals “a more accommodating position in the trading of cryptocurrencies”.
Cantor Fitzgerald has already benefited from the new political climate, after advising the investment of Tether $ 775 million in the Rumble Conservative video sharing platform. The brokerage also sponsors two additional spaces led by Lutnick which remain looking for objectives.
The presence of SoftBank – with “180 billion dollars in assets, 32 billion dollars in cash and a massive portfolio of companies”, as observed by the CEO of BTC Inc., David Bailey, gives the immediate world weight of the proposed vehicle. Bailey told X subscribers: “Softbank officially entered the Bitcoin market with an initial acquisition of $ 900 million … Masayoshi Son!” Steven Lubka, who directs Swan Private Wealth, simply posted: “Cantor, Softbank and Tether launch a BTC acquisition vehicle”.
Market observers quickly linked the emergence of the consortium to the recent Bitcoin price action. Tuur Demeester, host of the Podcast B Reel and director at Texas Bitcoin Foundation, wrote that “this ad could explain why Bitcoin increased by 12% last week”.
Jeff Park, head of Alpha Strategies in Bitwise, has supervised collaboration in geopolitical terms, the appellant “the ultimate joint venture” exorbitant privilege “- a decision so wild that you cannot start understanding how it will overcome the export machine in dollars in a positive feedback loop of the existing global transport system.”
At the time of the press, BTC exchanged $ 93,391.
