The emerging blockchain industry is lagging behind the artificial intelligence sector in terms of job creation, but this hiring gap can reduce by 2030.

Blockchain remains one of the smallest sectors in the technology industry, with around 300,000 global jobs, compared to 1.5 million AI and automatic learning and 25 million in software development, according to a new Bitget Research Report shared with Cointtelegraph.

The blockchain sector added around 20,000 new jobs in 2024, according to aggregated job lists from platforms such as LinkedIn, Web3 Jobs and Crypto Emploi List.

While blockchain -based jobs had an average annual compound growth rate (TCAC) of 45%, exceeding most of the traditional technological sectors, it drags TCAC by 57% of the AI industry, according to the report.

The maturity of the AI industry and the largest part of venture capital investment are the main reasons for the divergence of hiring, said at Cointelegraph Vugar Usi Zade, head of the Bitget Exchange:

“Riding capital investors have put more than $ 100 billion in AI startups in 2024, with AI centered titles exceeding one million vacancies around the world,” said Usi Zade. “Blockchain companies, on the other hand, announce barely 20,000 openings and have only attracted $ 5.4 billion in new funds during the same period.”

The blockchain can generate more than a million jobs by 2030

IA -related job lists increased between 75% and 100% from one year to the next, while blockchain employment growth remains between 45% and 60% of growth growth.

The blockchain could exceed 1 million jobs by 2030 if it manages to evolve at the same rate as the roles based on AI, according to the report.

More regulatory clarity of laws such as European markets in the Crypto-Active Regulation (MICA) can encourage blockchain companies to increase their hiring efforts, said Zade:

“The European Mica Rules Book, live since December 2024, is already crazy about hiring; Similar clarity in the United States and Asia would unlock the world’s headlines. ”

“The quality quality quality performance: Dencun d’Ethereum upgrade reduces typical layer 2 costs by more than 95%, reporting that blockchains can now manage businesses at an acceptable cost,” he added.

While jobs based on blockchain are ready for growth, “AI will naturally get more talents during the next decade,” Jawad Ashraf, CEO of Vanar Chain, said at Cointelegraph.

“Indeed, the integration of the AI market has been faster than any other modern technology that we remember,” he said. “If you look at the blockchain, we are always very focused on integration with Tradfi and wider web3 markets such as game, real token, etc.”

He added: “The blockchain has still not penetrated the most conventional markets focused on the consumer. It will be, in the near future, but we are not there yet.”

Blockchain and AI are not in competition for talents

“AI and blockchain are not in competition for talents; they work together to create new opportunities,” said 3 -commitment business development, a business automation solution.

The combination of the two technologies allows “sophisticated financial tools accessible for everyone, not only the big institutions, he said, adding:

“Companies pay the best dollar for professionals who understand both AI and blockchain, recognizing the value of this expertise between the cross -country.”

Lebedev added that the integration of blockchain with AI has regular employment in the two areas, as financial and technological companies move integrated pilot programs in basic operations.

Thanks to the synergistic advantages of the two technologies, the growth in the Blockchain employment can start to reflect the AI industry, according to Adi Ben-Ari, founder and CEO of Applied Blockchain, a blockchain development company fueled by AI.

AI technology is “probabilistic and introduces uncertainty”, which creates more demand for blockchain and cryptographic technologies, he told Cintelegraph.

“The AI produces results that are not always exact, can be false and can sometimes be incorrect,” he said. “This new uncertainty must be countered by a technology that brings absolute certainty, and this is where blockchain and cryptography come into play.”

Ben-Ari added that the blockchain’s ability to secure sensitive information by cryptography would become more and more important because AI consumes larger amounts of personal data.

AI agents already use cryptocurrency for autonomous transactions. On December 16, 2024, Luna, an AI agent on the virtual protocol, paid for another AI agent of the Stix protocol, in exchange for its image generation services – sending a value of $ 1.77 of virtual tokens (virtual), according to Onchain data.
