In a great conversation with the former Navy Seal and YouTuber Shawn Ryan, the founder of Cardano, Charles Hoskinson, presented the philosophical roots of the crypto, connecting the blockchain directly to the ideals of freedom, confidence and decentralized power.
The interview also attracted some controversy as to whether Hoskinson is a liar while he was talking about his days as a secret agent to Darpa and the time he jumped from a Apache helicopter.
As a Twitter user wrote: “You really have to listen to the five hours for those who come out of out of context to have a meaning and really understand the human side of Charles. You know, not only the engineer archetype of genius you know.”
Good: Charles Hoskinson breaks down the importance of crypto
Inspired by his first involvement in the Ron Paul movement, Hoskinson connected the points between the Austrian economy, the sound money and the failures of Fiat.
“If you don’t have much money, you don’t have freedom … bad money creates socialism. Good money gives you an agency. ” – Charles Hoskinson, Shawn Ryan Show
Hoskinson compared the blockchains to the constitutions: immutable, transparent and resistant to political coercion. For him, crypto was a natural progression.
“In crypto, my use is identical to a poor farmer in Saga,” said Hoskinson. “In the Fiat world, Bill Gates and I are treated very differently.”
Hoskinson has rejected the idea that tokens are only speculative chips in a world casino. In his opinion, these are the decentralized power systems by keeping the infrastructure open, resilient and out of the hands of technological monopolies.
The madman of Charles … but also interesting
In some of the wildest stories told in the interview, before launching Cardano, Charles Hoskinson collaborated with Darpa, jumped helicopters and even participated in a ritual ceremony in Brazil involving gloves full of fleas.
In addition, he was part of a team that passed the werewolf, helped recover extrasolar fragments from the Pacific and financed research on bioluminescent plants.
According to Laura Shin, Charles Hoskinson said he was an asset of the CIA and a Darpa contributor who fell in love with a female spy after falling from a apache. You can’t do this shit LMAO pic.twitter.com/ziklothlmt

The ADA community breathes really strong and quickly hits their keyboard when you psychoanalysis Charles Hoskinson. But whatever, Hoskinson’s cryptographic knowledge shone.
He thinks that the greatest crypto defect has been his contradictory state of mind. Bitcoin vs Ethereum, crypto vs banks. Its alternative: Building interoperable systems where success is mutual.
“Cardano has not dropped once in eight years. You cannot build real funding on unstable land.” – Hoskinson
Is Charles Hoskinson a sociopath?
Here is an extract from the book Out of the EtheR, about what other Ethereum co-founders have thought of Charles:

As he says: “A pathological liar, a sociopath and someone who tried to convince the team of Ethereum that he was in fact Satoshi.”
Well .. loves it or hates it, Charles Hoskinson is the closest thing to the crypto of a rock star. Unlike Vitalik, he transformed Cardano into a brand with a liaison flair. And while Cardano’s technology is, let’s be honest that it is the charisma of Hoskinson which is half the reason why Cardano has the attention of Wall Street.
