As a person working in the field of information technologies, I witnessed the remarkable growth and potential of blockchain technologies and digital assets. These innovations represent a powerful engine for economic development, job creation and advanced progress – not just worldwide, but here in Connecticut.
However, despite this promise, the lack of coherent federal guidelines continues to hinder responsible innovation in developers, entrepreneurs and American investors faced with a regulatory gray area that stifles the momentum and stimulates talent abroad. To maintain American leadership in digital finance, we need thoughtful and clear federal regulations that provide a growth and innovation basis.
This is why I applaud legislative efforts such as the Clarity Act (HR 3633), which aims to provide regulatory transparency and consumer protection to this emerging space. Politicians like this are essential to promote a fair and competitive environment where innovation can prosper and American companies can prosper.
Connecticut is already showing an increasing interest in blockchain – education and training of labor for entrepreneurial companies and the development of infrastructure. But without a coordinated federal framework, these efforts may be left behind.
I urge legislators to continue supporting a balanced and prospective policy that allows blockchain and digital assets to develop in a responsible manner, while protecting consumers and stimulating sustainable economic benefits.
