Sean “Diddy” Combs, the hip-hop mogul and music industry entrepreneur, and Sam Bankman-Fried, the disgraced founder of the failed cryptocurrency exchange FTX, are now sharing a living quarters in a Brooklyn federal detention center, according to people familiar with the matter.

The Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn is housing the two inmates in a specialized unit designed for defendants requiring extra protection. The barrack-like area, which holds between 18 and 20 inmates, houses two high-profile individuals who have recently been the subject of criminal proceedings.

Combs, 54, was arrested last week on charges of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking. The music executive now finds himself in the same unit as Bankman-Fried, the former CEO of cryptocurrency exchange FTX.

Bankman-Fried, 32, was convicted in November of fraud involving more than $8 billion. In March, he was sentenced to 25 years in federal prison on seven counts of fraud and conspiracy related to the collapse of FTX.

The unit that houses Combs and Bankman-Fried also includes cooperators, inmates who can assist law enforcement and who require special protection.

The Bureau of Prisons has not commented on specific living conditions for inmates, citing privacy and security concerns.

Also in April, SBF publicly denied any intentional illegality on the part of the Brooklyn jail, highlighting its errors in ethical judgment and expressing its commitment to reimbursing FTX customers.

Earlier this year, in February, SBF’s lawyers sought to reduce his prison sentence to between 63 and 78 months, citing his moral character and contributions to society.
