EDGEX became one of the biggest losers in the market over the past 24 hours, posting a 10.5% decline.
The decline follows a strong two-week rally that saw the asset gain as much as 92% at its peak, suggesting the current move could mark a reversal from recent highs.
Current analysis indicates that weakening fundamentals are the main driver of the economic slowdown. The data shows that the underlying support that fueled the rally has started to fade, leaving price action exposed to downward pressure.
Fundamentals Lose Momentum
The change in fundamentals is most evident in investor sentiment. Data from CoinMarketCap shows that market participants are gradually withdrawing support for EdgeX (EDGEX).
Community sentiment, which helps determine whether investors are bullish or bearish, has reversed decisively. Historically, strong imbalances in this measure tend to align with the broader market direction.

In 24 hours, bullish sentiment fell from over 80% on April 8 to just 33% at press time. The sharp turnaround indicates that around 66% of investors now expect another decline, marking a clear shift from optimism to caution.
This change has directly translated into price action, with EDGEX tending to decline as bearish expectations take hold.
Holder exits accelerate capital outflows
Beyond sentiment, on-chain participation also reflects growing weakness.
The total number of holders fell from 26,480 to 24,890, meaning that around 1,600 wallets exited their positions entirely in a short period of time.
While it remains unclear whether the selling pressure came primarily from whales, who control 79.89% of the supply, or from retail investors holding the remaining 20.11%, such a contraction in holders generally signals declining confidence and reduced market participation.

This exit had a measurable impact on valuation. EDGEX’s market capitalization fell by over $34.4 million, bringing its total value down to around $344 million at the time of writing.
Unless the fundamentals stabilize, the asset will likely remain under pressure, with the price structure pointing towards the formation of lower highs and lower lows.
Futures traders resist broader trend
As spot market conditions weaken, derivatives traders continue to position themselves higher.
At press time, the interest-weighted open funding rate remained positive at 0.0053%, indicating that long positions still dominated the futures market.
This is happening despite visible capital outflows and a decline in spot demand.
This divergence suggests that futures traders may be pricing in a near-term rebound, viewing the current decline as a temporary correction rather than a lasting reversal.

However, this positioning introduces downside risk. If bearish momentum persists, the concentration of long positions could trigger a cascade of liquidations, amplifying selling pressure and accelerating the decline.
Final Summary
- EDGEX is facing a sharp decline in its fundamentals, with two-thirds of investors now bearish as the number of holders declines.
- Despite weakening spot conditions, the futures market maintains a positive funding rate, reflecting persistent long positioning.
