Make some fun announcements for you all this week 🙂
In addition to the items below, customer teams continue to progress toward production. We’ll talk about it again next week!

Lesser Authority Phase 0 Audit Completed
As discussed several months ago, we collaborated with Least Authority to conduct a full audit of the Phase 0 specifications. The audit was comprehensive with an in-depth review of potential DoS attacks, resource misuse, forks /unintended chains and fund-impacting attacks.
The audit is now complete and available for public review 🎉.
The Least Authority audit helped us fix a few DoS vectors in gossip messages with additional validation conditions (Problems A and B), highlighted a known concern regarding the election of the leader of the public bloc nominators (Problems C and D), and prompted further investigation into potential DoS attacks using libp2p’s gossipsub control messages (Problem G).
Beyond these concrete issues, the audit made some suggestions for cleaning up the p2p specification, investigating techniques for tightening gossip, and having key consensus documents/evidence peer reviewed.
Many thanks to Least Authority. It was a pleasure to work with their many listeners on this project!
Phase 0 Pre-launch Bonus program
We are delighted to announce the Phase 0 Pre-Launch Bonus Program!
This program is designed to encourage You (reward up to $10,000!) to find and report bugs in Eth2 Phase 0 main specs before mainnet launch 🐛.
The Ethereum Foundation will run this program from now until just before the Phase 0 mainnet launch. Once Phase 0 is in production, we will move to Phase 0 bounties towards standard. Ethereum Bounty Program.
Learn more for more details on the rules, how to report, severity levels, and rewards.
To kick off the program, we’re excited to award the first three bug bounties!
Happy 🐛 hunting!
Unification of eth1+eth2 communications
Something magical has happened since deVcon in Osaka. Under Piper’s wrangling, the vague eth1x research initiative morphed into the Stateless Ethereum movement with a concrete roadmap and broad participation across the ecosystem.
This move is complementary to eth2’s scaling efforts, and the research, specifications, development, and conversation between eth1 and eth2 are increasingly overlapping. To contribute to this collaborative effort that is determining the future of Ethereum, eth1+eth2 communications were recently merged into the R&D Ethics discord server
Join us! You are welcome to lurk, ask questions, propose new sync protocols, prototype eth1+eth2 unification, optimize cookies, or simply keep up to date with the future of the Ethereum protocol 🚀
