Ethereum (ETH) should present its last upgrade, nicknamed the upgrade of Fusaka, on December 3, 2025, a calendar which was accelerated from the previous expectations of a launch in 2026. This announcement comes from Christine Kim, a researcher monitoring the progress of Ethereum’s development.

Confirmation of the Mainnet activation date was made during the recent Core Developers Consensus (ACDC) call, where the developers have also established schedules for public test tests and the hard-blob-parameter fork (BPO) linked to Fusaka.

Fusaka Devnet d’Ethereum update

The developers have reached a consensus on these questions with surprising ease, indicating a smooth path despite the test challenges in progress. They remain attached to the date of activation of December, unless there is any major downside in the next few months of testing.

Currently, two versions of the Fusaka Devnet are in operation. Devnet-3 is stable, with customer teams actively approaching the software fixes. Meanwhile, Devnet-5 is also stable but has encountered problems earlier this week, including several customer bugs and knot errors.

These problems would have limited the team’s ability to collect critical data on Blob-Parameter values only (BPO). However, the information still comes from a brief period of stability on Devnet-5, leading to recommendations to establish a maximum number of Blob for the next hard forks.

For the future, the Ethpandaops team of the Ethereum Foundation plans to deploy Fusaka Devnet-6 in the coming weeks to validate the results of Devnet-5.

The team focuses on the fight against a bug of the Prysm client who emerged on Devnet-5, which seems to be linked to High Blob Cours causing orphaned blocks. In addition, a recent update from the “CKZG” library has solved previous problems, with a new version now available on Github.

Upcoming testnets

The chronology of the deployment of Fusaka is well defined, with several key upgrades provided before the activation of the Mainnet. Upcoming tests include upgrading of Holesky on October 1, upgrading of Sepolia on October 14 and the upgrade of Hoodi on October 28.

Developers have agreed that customer teams should consolidate their versions for these Testnet upgrades But can publish individually updates closer to the activation of Maint de Maint.

In a separate but related development, the Ethereum community is engaged in discussions on the name of a new upgrade of the consensus layer, called Glamsterdam.

This will also imply the depreciation of the Sepolia Testnet, although the developers have assured that there would be enough time for the community to adapt to this change, the new Testnet should be launched in March 2026.
