Do you enjoy solving interesting and challenging problems? Would you like to get involved at the most fundamental level of the Ethereum protocol?
The Protocol Support Team (EF) is excited to announce that applications are now being accepted for the third cohort of the Ethereum Protocol Exchange. (formerly Core Developer Apprenticeship Program (CDAP))!
With the merge ends (58750000000000000000000 🥳)Ethereum’s core developers are looking forward to the next steps in the protocol’s development and there is a need for qualified and committed people to help build an increasingly powerful and robust Ethereum network.

What is the Ethereum Protocol Exchange (EPF)?
EPF is a program designed to integrate developers into the process by which protocol development occurs. This is an opportunity to dive deep into the protocol and learn while working closely with others on the same learning path as well as the core development community.
Developing basic protocols is not easy work, but it is interesting, challenging and rewarding. Unfortunately, this job also has a very high barrier to entry. This requires a high degree of mastery of the protocols themselves. This requires a thorough understanding of many different engineering concepts. This requires excellent written and verbal communication skills. The intention of this program is to provide an easier on-ramp to overcome these obstacles, and to provide the initial support and guidance to enable you to work side-by-side with leading developers.

Past cohorts
The EPF has already welcomed two successful cohorts. During this period, former members of the cohort have:
- Working on an alternative method of documenting and specifying the Ethereum protocol.
- Research on how we can modify or remove the SELFDESTRUCT opcode
- Helped build ZKSync
- Creation of new peer-to-peer networks for the Portal network.
- Wrote their own implementation of EVM
- 10 alumni from the cohort are now working full-time on core protocol development and 5 more are working in adjacent areas of the industry.
Have a real impact
Core protocol development plays a key role in maintaining and improving the multi-billion dollar Ethereum protocol; a protocol that we believe will play a key role in creating a more just and equitable future for humanity. Do you want to join us to build a future that excites you?
