Defunct Crypto Exchange FTX will distribute its next reimbursements to creditors on September 30, marking the third major payment in its reimbursement plan for several billion dollars in progress.

The expected payment, detailed in a July 23 statementcomes after FTX received the authority of the bankruptcy court “to reduce the disputed complaint reserve by $ 1.9 billion, from $ 6.5 billion to $ 4.3 billion, releasing distribution money to authorized complaint holders in the following distribution.”

Although the total amount is available, FTX has not yet specified the amount of inclusion in the September payment, which is likely to be carried out via Bitgo, Kraken and Payoneer.

The company set on August 15 at the deadline for creditors with approved complaints.

FTX has already paid $ 6.2 billion

The company began reimbursing creditors earlier this year and has already paid nearly $ 6.2 billion after its redistribution plan was approved by the American bankruptcy court.

This amount was paid into two slices. The first distribution of $ 1.2 billion took place in February. A few months later, the company then paid an additional $ 5 billion to the creditors. Overall, the reimbursement plan aims to distribute between $ 14.7 billion and $ 16.5 billion.

About 98% of creditors should receive at least 119% of their complaints according to the value when the company went bankrupt.

Some creditors, however, criticized the company’s reimbursement plan, noting that the cryptography market has appreciated considerably since FTX has filed its bankruptcy in 2022.

The FTX tries to reverse complaints for “limited jurisdictions”

While FTX is preparing to reimburse some of its creditors at the end of September, others may not be reimbursed.

On July 4, the FTX Recovery Trust submitted a request asking the court to approve new payment measures to creditors in “limited jurisdictions”, where distributions would be deemed illegal.

This could see complaints from creditors in regions such as China, Russia, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have reversed and lost. The proposal has already aroused criticism from investors in these jurisdictions.
