Moxy, the video game tournament and gamification platform founded by Nolan Bushnell, today announced a partnership with Skale Labs. Moxy will leverage and advance Skale’s invisible, gasless blockchain technology, which the two companies say addresses one of the biggest challenges in Web3 gaming: gas fees.
The Moxy team chose Skale for its speed and efficiency, it explains. It will migrate the Moxy token to the Skale protocol from Ethereum, which the team estimates will save Moxy $3.5 million per year in gas fees. Moxy plans to reinvest the savings back into its ecosystem.
Jack O’Holleran, CEO and co-founder of Skale, told GamesBeat: “It’s estimated that around 30 million people are playing blockchain games. That’s impressive, but it’s just a drop in the bucket when you consider that there are over 3 billion people playing games worldwide. SKALE and Moxy are partnering with the goal of helping to merge these worlds and bring the next billion gamers to Web3. We hope to drive more players and transactions to the SKALE blockchain through this partnership and ultimately help grow the industry’s footprint by an order of magnitude.”
Bushnell said in a statement: “Our collaboration with Skale is a game changer for Web3 gaming. By eliminating gas fees and leveraging Skale’s high-speed infrastructure, we are setting a new standard for what players and developers can expect. We now have the potential to bridge the gap between traditional and blockchain gaming, creating a seamless and rewarding experience for all.”
