Garlinghouse of Ripple agrees that Wall Street is copying XRP’s banking coin model

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse released a single word: “TRUE,” in response to Flare co-founder Hugo Philion’s observation that the entire crypto industry is now scrambling to become what XRP has always been criticized for being.

Philion’s original comment gets straight to the point: “When XRP and Ripple started, they were accused of being the banker’s coin. Today, everyone in the entire industry is desperate to be the banker’s coin.”

Garlinghouse’s public endorsement, supported by reports that Ripple has deployed $4 billion of XRP securities to traditional institutional finance, presents this less as a narrative shift and more as a late market correction.

An X post sums it up bluntly: “They made fun of the vision. Now they copy it.”

Real-world assets, bank-integrated infrastructure, and institutional liquidity rails, which were once XRP’s niche, are now crypto’s busiest terrain.

Garlinghouse, Ripple and XRP prices

XRP is barely holding above the psychologically critical $1.00 threshold, with the price consolidating within a tight range that technicals describe as a bullish squeeze. Key support lies at the $1 area, a prior consolidation band that has absorbed selling pressure over cycles.

Volume remains elevated relative to the XRP ETF benchmark, suggesting sustained interest rather than a dead cat bounce. Trading demand data indicates that the $1.00 support level has real on-chain significance, not just chart psychology.

At current levels, the risk/reward ratio favors closely monitoring the $1.2 breakout level before adding exposure.

The bankers’ coin narrative is now a consensus, meaning a revaluation of marginal institutional asset has traditional financial infrastructure is largely integrated into the prices. The asymmetric advantage that early XRP holders captured, adhering to a view the market had not yet accepted, no longer exists at its current price.

Now, can XRP get back above its all-time high? Only time will tell
