The Greek authorities carried out the very first cryptography crisis in the country after having followed funds linked to the $ 1.4 billion in crypto exchange of exchange earlier this year.

The Hellenic anti-flary Hellenic authority of the money made a freezing prescription on a suspicious portfolio following a survey of several months helped by the chainalysis blockchain analysis company.

The operation targeted funds stolen in the February violation of February, which was largely awarded to the Lazare group in North Korea.

The Hack Bybit, which ranks among the greatest crypto exchange violations in history, has seen the attackers exploiting vulnerabilities in the platform’s private key management systems to empty about $ 1.4 billion in Ethereum (ETH).

The stolen funds were quickly bleached thanks to a complex blockchain transaction network designed to obscure their origins, which makes recovery efforts difficult for the global authorities.

Greek entry has marked an important step for the application of local laws in the prevention of digital crime. It was made possible by the strategic investment of the authority in the chain chain reactor in 2023, a blockchain tracing platform purchased through performance technologies for regional partners.

The local technology supplier also provided analysts with training and operational support before the case. Using the reactor, the Greek investigators followed suspicious cryptographic transactions which finally linked a suspicious portfolio to the flight of origin.

The officials then frozen the assets, by deleting control of the illicit actors and by transferring the case to the authorities to continue for additional legal action.

Kyriakos Pierrakakis, Minister of Economy and Greece finance, praised the seizure as a demonstration of modern tools strengthening anti-financial crime efforts.

Analysts said that successful seizure highlights how the big public book of blockchain can help world police despite sophisticated laundering tactics employed by groups like Lazarus, which has targeted crypto exchanges in the world to finance the arms programs in North Korea.

The chain-analysis has described the case as proof that the combination of technology, training and international cooperation can erode criminal anonymity and strengthen trust in the digital asset markets.
