How the Ethereum Foundation’s subsidy program makes decisions

Our objective in the subsidy team is to be the faithful managers of Ethereum community resources. As part of the continuous effort of the Ethereum Foundation to disseminate power throughout our community, we grant subsidies which, in our opinion, will make the greatest impact on the long -term Ethereum ecosystem.

What is the scope of EF grants?

  • Open Source!

  • Funding is only for future work

  • Avoid playing favorites. We try not to take advantage of a team on others

  • Avoid subsidies to the application layer, although we thought that projects and teams working on the application layer must apply when they build open source tools applicable to wider ecosystem

  • Avoid giving a “approval stamp” from the Ethereum Foundation. EF subsidies are not intended to be an approval of a particular project on others.

How to assess applications?

  • We think of a highest impact by asking ourselves:

    • To what extent would this be important for the ecosystem?
    • How urgent is the problem?
    • How many other people work on this problem?
    • What value do we get by giving a subsidy in relation to doing nothing?

  • We are favorably biased towards projects with reasonable ways to sustainability. This ensures a long -term impact on the investment of community resources.

  • We are looking for candidates with relevant experience or a proven capacity to execute, in proportion to the amount of the grant

  • Alignment with Ethereum values

Note: Because we offer non -dilutive capital, we plan to pay a reduction on your market rate

We realize that our decision -making process will never be perfect, but we always do our best to continuously improve the speed and quality of the decision -making process.
