Blockchain and agriculture may seem strange, but as Yana Leonova explains in episode 19 of the “Podcast Clear Crypto”, twinning has the potential to take up some of the most urgent challenges of humanity – from food waste to land disputes.

“Agriculture can be an excellent example of how blockchain can benefit the planet, sustainability and each of us,” said Leonova, and she does not speak hypothetically.
Her doctorate in agricultural economics and her work in Dubai’s innovation ecosystem place her at the intersection of blockchain and real impact.
One of the most tangible use cases? Transparency of the supply chain. Projects like IBM Food Trust and WWF OpenC already follow products such as seafood and palm oil oil.
In water, Leonova highlights the Farm to Plate initiative, which reduced about $ 6 billion in food waste by improving visibility and granting supply with real -time demand. She explained:
“The blockchain gives you an image in real time … and the data is the key these days.”

Technology does not only concern logistical improvements; It is also the empowerment of small operators. “The idea is that we can use tokens and smart contracts … There is no intermediary, no judgment,” said Leonova.

Blockchain philosophy
The conversation also digs a more philosophical aspect of the role of blockchain: justice.
Leonova described how immutable books can protect land property, especially following disasters where paper files are lost.
“No one can impose their rights on your property. You cannot bribe the blockchain.”
Co-hosts Nathan Jeffay and Gareth Jenkinson underline how these examples dismantle the notion that blockchain only concerns speculation. “These are not distant cryptography or currency negotiation,” said Nathan. “It is a question of solving the problems of the real world.”
Leonova remains hope of adoption despite persistent skepticism.
“It takes time to recognize and adapt to the blockchain … But once the confidence is built, it can play a huge role for humanity.”
