Wall Street giant, Jpmorgan Chase, explores loans supported by the crypto for its customers, a decision that would mark a major change for a bank whose CEO has once called Bitcoin as “fraud”.

It is in financial time report This has cited sources familiar with the issue, which said that the bank could start lending loans against cryptos, including Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH).

These loans supported by crypto could be available in 2026, although the plans are subject to modification, added the report.

Jamie Dimon

Jamie Dimon’s negative crypto comments cost potential banking customers

JPMorgan CEO, Jamie Dimon, has repeatedly expressed his anti-Crypto position over the years.

During a company meeting in 2017, he rejected Bitcoin as a “fraud” and also warned that one of the bank’s employees who exchanged the BTC on the bank’s accounts would be dismissed.

The lack of basic understanding of Jamie Dimon’s bitcoin, as CEO of the largest bank on the planet, is quite wild. He has clearly spent important time to examine it, but he talks about it with so much confidence. A little embarrassing frankly.pic.twitter.com/q1voqccjv1

Then, in 2018, he again criticized Bitcoin and called him a “scam”, adding that he was not interested in it.

Years later, in 2022, the CEO of JPMorgan reiterated its negative position on digital assets, describing them as “decentralized ponzi schemes”. However, he recognized the potential for decentralized financing (DEFI), blockchain technology, smart contracts and “tokens that do something”.

According to the sources cited in the report, Dimon’s negative comments to Crypto cost potential banking customers who have either made their money in digital assets or have shown long -term interest in crypto.

JPMorgan by examining the stablescoins after Genius Act signed the law

Dimon recently softened his position on the crypto and declared that he would defend customer law to buy bitcoin.

JPMorgan also expanded its development as a stablecoin, the bank’s CEO said earlier this month that JPMorgan would be “involved in the JPMorgan deposit matte room and the stablescoins to understand it, to be good”.

CEO of Citigroup, Jane Fraser, also said that the bank “actively explored” a Citi brand stable for cross -border payments.
