Kraken and Tempo partner on global payments and stablecoin infrastructure

TL;DR

  • Tempo chooses Kraken as its first centralized exchange partner in the United Statesgiving Tempo-powered payments companies, neobanks and stablecoin issuers access to Kraken’s full institutional stack through a single relationship.
  • The partnership expands significant liquidity and OTC, on/off ramps, qualified custody and introductions to Kraken quotescoordinated by a single partnership rather than five conversations with suppliers.
  • USDT0 and USDC.e deposits and withdrawals are live on Kraken via Tempowith native support for the channel.
  • Qualified custody by a regulated custodian in the United States for stablecoin reserves, operating treasuries and protocol assets, designed for the full lifecycle of token operations.

Designed to move money on-chain at scale

As payment platforms, neobanks, remittance providers, and merchant networks bring a greater share of global on-chain payments volume, they need infrastructure capable of handling real money movements at scale.

Tempo, Layer 1 purpose-built for stable payments and incubated by Paradigm and Stripe, is where many of these teams land. And to support them, Tempo has chosen Kraken as its first centralized exchange partner in the United States.

For payments and stablecoin teams leveraging Tempo, the partnership unlocks access to Kraken’s entire institutional layer (liquidity, entry/exit ramps, custody, quotes and execution), coordinated through a single relationship. Two category-defining teams, working together to make on-chain money transfer faster, deeper and more credible.

USDT0 and USDC.e deposits and withdrawals are live on Kraken via Tempo, making Kraken the first major US exchange to natively support the chain.

The Kraken institutional stack on Tempo

Kraken Institutional is designed for the type of businesses that come to Tempo. Whether settling cross-border flows, issuing a stablecoin or launching a token, the full stack is available from day one:

  • Deep liquidity and OTC. Kraken sits at the bottom of the stablecoin payment stack: the institutional settlement venue for orchestrators, PSPs, and on/off ramps that move real volume. Spot and over-the-counter liquidity across stablecoins, fiat pairs and major assets, with multi-currency coverage in regions where stablecoin payments are growing the fastest.
  • Entrance/exit ramps. Direct through the UI, programmatically through API, or integrated into your product through Payward Services (Payward is the parent company of Kraken). Designed for flow types managed by Tempo customers, such as cross-border payments, payments, remittances and settlements.
  • A direct path to Kraken lists. First access to Kraken’s SEO team for tokens and stablecoins launched natively on Tempo.
  • Distribution to millions of verified users. Real demand from day one, not a cold start, with amplification on Kraken-owned channels.
  • Compliance managed. KYB, transaction monitoring, and sanctions screening are built into Kraken’s regulatory stack so teams don’t have to defend themselves.
  • Qualified guard. Kraken Financial, a Wyoming SPDI, maintains stablecoin reserves, operating treasuries and protocol assets under one of the cleanest U.S. regulatory envelopes available.
  • Coordinated through a single relationship. Custody, enrollment, OTC, on/off ramps, and ecosystem distribution are managed by a single partnership, not five vendor conversations.

As payments move on-chain globally, Tempo and Kraken are building the infrastructure to make it compliant, credible and scalable.
