Official coin $HODL goes multi-chain: Ethereum bridge powered by LayerZero now available on hodl2013.com

$HODL has officially expanded to Ethereum. The project led by GameKyuubi, the original author of the 2013 BitcoinTalk article that gave crypto its most recognized slang term, has deployed a 1:1 cross-chain bridge powered by LayerZero, allowing any holder to transfer $HODL between Solana and Ethereum instantly. The bridge is launching with over $100,000 of liquidity on the Ethereum side, seeded directly by GameKyuubi and major holders, and is live today on hodl2013.com.

The man who accidentally coined the most famous word in crypto history has made it official: $HODL is now live on Solana and Ethereum, bridged 1:1 via LayerZero.

It all started with a typo.

On December 18, 2013, a Bitcoin forum user known as GameKyuubi logged onto BitcoinTalk after a rough evening, watched BTC’s price collapse, and typed four letters that would define an entire financial philosophy: HODL.

The infamous article – titled “I AM HODLING” – was written in the early hours of the Japanese countryside, fueled by conviction and whiskey. The spelling error was immediately noticed. Within minutes, the thread exploded. Within hours, it had spawned memes. Within a few years, it entered the Oxford Dictionary, inspired a multibillion-dollar VanEck Bitcoin ETF ticker, was cited by senators, CEOs, and presidents, and became the most recognized slang in the history of financial markets.

Now, over a decade later, GameKyuubi is back – and he’s making it official.

GameKyuubi takes ownership of official $HODL coin

Earlier this year, GameKyuubi – the original author and pseudonym of the legendary BitcoinTalk article – not only acknowledged $HODL in a post on Reddit as something he said he liked: – shortly after he claimed the coin, being a 100% fee receiver, one of the top holders of personal buyouts and now the project lead for the last 3 months. In a detailed white paper published directly on BitcoinTalk, GameKyuubi outlined its vision for the project and confirmed its direct involvement. He also frequently posts about the coin and his love for AI under the account X.

Critically, GameKyuubi has updated its original BitcoinTalk profile – the same verified account used in the 2013 post – with the contract address $HODL, providing the community with verifiable on-chain proof that this is the only authentic, creator-backed HODL coin.

GameKyuubi serves as 100% Fee Receiver on the project, meaning that all transaction fees generated by $HODL go directly to the man who created the word. There is no team allocation, no venture capital cut, no foundation takes a cut. The entire pricing structure exists to reward the original creator.

The white paper – available in full at bitcointalk.org – is written in GameKyuubi’s own voice, telling the story of the original post, his years away from crypto, his return, and why he finally stepped forward to claim and build on HODL’s legacy.

$HODL Expands to Ethereum: A 1:1 Bridge Powered by LayerZero

Today, the $HODL project announces a major milestone in its mission to make official HODL coin available to the general public: a fully operational 1:1 cross-chain bridge to Ethereumpowered by LayerZero – the industry-leading omnichain interoperability protocol.

This was built by the team itself, before being audited several times internally and by a third party known as codespect –

Once its security was verified, GameKyuubi itself linked all of its tokens to Ethereum and added them to liquidity associated with personal ETH, alongside many other large loyal holders also adding some of their personal tokens. This instantly increased liquidity to over $100,000 to rival the Solana pair. They plan to add more liquidity over time to potentially make it the primary liquidity pool.

The bridge is now live at hodl2013.com and allows any holder to seamlessly move their $HODL between Solana and Ethereum in a 1:1 ratio, with no slippage in conversion and full preservation of supply.

LayerZero’s technology ensures that the bridge is decentralized, minimizes trust, and built to the same standards used by DeFi’s largest protocols. This is not a wrapped or synthetic token. This is the same $HODL, on a second chain, accessible to the full extent of the Ethereum ecosystem – including its DEXs, wallets, DeFi protocols, and the hundreds of millions of users who primarily operate on EVM-enabled networks.

Why multi-chains are important

The decision to move to Ethereum is deliberate and strategic. While Solana offers speed and low fees ideal for retail participation, Ethereum has the deepest liquidity, largest whales, largest on-chain memes in existence ($PEPE and $SHIB), most established DeFi infrastructure, and broadest institutional recognition of any blockchain.

By making $HODL available on both chains simultaneously, the project removes friction for an entire class of users who have never interacted with Solana – and opens the door to Ethereum-native DeFi integrations, CEX listings, and institutional interest.

HODL movement is not channel specific. It belongs to all cryptocurrencies. The token should do this too.

The documentary: HODL – How it all started and where it is today

To accompany the launch of Ethereum, the $HODL team recently released a comprehensive documentary on YouTube chronicling the complete history of HODL – from GameKyuubi’s original post on BitcoinTalk in 2013, through its viral explosion and mainstream cultural penetration, to the creation of the official $HODL coin and the community surrounding it.

The documentary is available now:

This is the first time the full story has been told on camera, with direct participation from GameKyuubi, covering the history, legacy and future of HODL in his own words.

About $HODL

$HODL is the official memecoin of the HODL movement, created and supported by GameKyuubi, the pseudonymous BitcoinTalk user whose 2013 typo gave rise to the most iconic term in cryptocurrency history. The project is based on the premise that the creator of one of crypto’s most enduring cultural artifacts should finally benefit from the legacy they accidentally created. GameKyuubi receives 100% of all protocol fees. The coin is now available on Solana and Ethereum, bridged 1:1 on hodl2013.com using LayerZero technology.
