The president of Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Paul Atkins, unveiled “Project Crypto”, a radical reform initiative aimed at positioning the United States at the forefront of the “digital asset revolution”.

Atkins said the initiative is a direct response to a report Released by US President Donald Trump’s working group on digital assets and which he aims to “make the United States” the world capital of cryptography “.

He added that the INitiative will modernize the rules and regulations of securities “to allow American financial markets to move to the chain.”

“Most of the rules and regulations inherited from the Commission do not make sense in the twenty-and-stage CENTurry – Not to mention chain markets ”, Atkins said. “The Commission must reorganize its book of rules so that the regulatory moats do not hinder progress and competition, new entrants and holders, to the detriment of rue Main.”

Cryptography Rules

‘Project crypto’ to facilitate the rules

Part of “Project Crypto” is a proposal to facilitate license rules for companies operating digital assets on the American market.

One of these new rules proposed is to allow several asset classes or instruments to be offered by brokerage houses under a single license. Atkins also wishes to create a clear legal separation between basic products, which most cryptos are currently falling under and titles.

The President of the SEC also aims to offer regulatory exemptions or periods of grace for cryptographic projects at an early stage, offers of initial parts and decentralized software. Atkins’ objective with this is to provide these projects with enough space to innovate, without crushing them under dispute.

Industry leaders call for formal cryptography taxonomy

Atkins’ initiative intervenes in the middle of the growing pressure of industry leaders so that regulators create a formal framework that distinguishes digital titles from basic products.

Michael Saylor of the strategy is one of these leaders. During the call for winnings in the second quarter of the company yesterday, he said that “it would be beneficial for the market” if regulators “nail on the taxonomy of digital assets”.

Without this taxonomy, Saylor argued that confusion would persist who can emit what and under what circumstances.
