Trading information company Santiment noted in its latest X article that FLOKI, PEPE and SHIB have seen significant spikes in whale transactions, each worth at least $100,000, over the past seven days.
📈 Among projects with a market cap of at least $500 million, meme coins have the highest increases #1, #2, #3 and #10 in whale transactions over $100,000 this week. Here is the full ranking:

FLOKI, on Ethereum, and PEPE topped the list with increases of 950% and 620% in their whale transactions. SHIB secured 10th place with a 111% increase in similar transactions.
Meme coins also saw strong trading volumes on Solana-based Pump.fun, Coinspeaker reported on Wednesday, January 7.
While some investors and traders would view this as a strongly positive sign, on-chain flows tell a different story.
Where does the money go?
The market for digital assets, including meme coins, started January with bullish momentum. The global crypto market cap increased from $2.96 trillion on January 1 to $3.2 trillion on January 6.
Despite the latest market-wide decline, PEPE is still up 57% over the past seven days. FLOKI and SHIB follow with gains of 36% and 26% respectively over the same period.
PEPE, SHIB and FLOKI are down 6.2%, 3.8% and 5.9% in the last 24 hours. As meme coins took a hit, major crypto exchanges and trading firms began repositioning the tokens.
According to Arkham data, PEPE’s top whale trades were entering and exiting Binance, OKX, Kraken, and algorithmic crypto trading firm Wintermute.
SHIB’s main entry transaction was sent to Cumberland DRW, the digital asset trading arm of DRW, according to Arkham data. The second largest meme coin has also seen significant movements related to Coinbase Prime and Coinhako.
While PEPE and SHIB’s major transactions were valued at millions of dollars, FLOKI’s whale movements were relatively small. The largest FLOKI transaction, sent from the Binance hot wallet, is worth $436,700.
Arkham data shows that FLOW has seen strong interactions with PancakeSwap and Binance, with MEV bots clearly showing up.
At this point, the most likely scenario is continued high volatility instead of expecting a market top. Since liquidity is quickly added and mined to and from major crypto exchanges, meme coins are positioned in a high-risk, high-reward zone.
