Pierre Poilievre, leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, is supporting a bill to ban central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) in Canada. He argues that a CBDC would give the government excessive control over finances, threatening privacy and economic freedom. “It is time to stop the creation of a central bank digital currency in Canada,” he said.
