The Premier League football players could have their wages paid in Crypto, a new report on the future of the blockchain suggests.

After more than 400 million pounds sterling were spent during the 2024-25 sports season on offers and sponsorships, it was suggested that digital currencies could replace traditional payments for transfers and wages of players.

In 2021, Spanish footballer David Barral became the first player to be transferred from one club to another using the cryptocurrency, Sao Paulo paying $ 6 million for Giuliano Galoppo via the blockchain the following year.

And a new B2BinPay report suggests that this could be the future.

“One of the most promising trends is the growing use of cryptocurrency to manage football transfers,” according to the crypto, is an integral part of the sports report. “More clubs and players are starting to pay the transfer costs directly using digital currencies like Bitcoin or Stablecoins.

“This method makes payments more quickly and removes borders that traditional transfers often create. As more people trust the system and technology improves, paying wages and bonuses for players with crypto could soon become normal practice. ”

A recent Sportquake report said that the sponsorship of sports organizations by crypto and blockchain brands was up 20% for more than 400 million pounds sterling in the last sports season.

“Almost two -thirds – 20 out of 34 – new cryptography sponsorship transactions have come to football while Formula 1 and the annual income of its exchanges were $ 174 million,” he said.

Coinbase, OKX and Gate.io tastes have recently been major players in the world of sports sponsorship, while Crypto.com has major football agreements, Formula 1 and stadium names in the United States.

“The Bulls are back,” said Sportquake chief Matt House. “The cryptographic winter of 2022/23 seems to be a long time ago, because the sports sponsorship of Crypto passes the rebounds towards peaks of all time.

“For the future, the key signals on the market suggest that crypto exchanges are likely to become important shirt buyers, while the ban on the Premier League of Paris companies buying this inventory takes effect during the 2026/27 season.”
