According to the legendary investigation journalist Seymour Hersh, the United States is preparing a large-scale bombing campaign against Iran over the next weekend. Citing anonymous American officials and Israeli sources, Hersh describes an operation that “will cause heavy American bombings”.
A senior Washington official told Hersh that “everything will be under control” if the supreme chief of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is withdrawn from the photo. But as Hersh points out, “we did not know how it could happen in less of his assassination.”

Israeli officials seem to hope that strikes will arouse internal disorders and perhaps even an uprising of minority groups like the Azeris, the Kurds, the Arabs or Baluchis. Some in the planning United States would have thought that Iran’s striker will only lead to more problems.
