Two months after US President Donald J. Trump signed an executive decree to establish a Bitcoin Strategic Reserve (SBR), the US Treasury Department has missed its most consecutive deadline to date, refusing to release – or even recognize – the compulsory evaluation which was due yesterday.
The March 6 Executive Order Direct Treasury Secretary David Bessent To Submit, “Within 60 Days of this Order,… An Evaluation of the Legal and Investment Considerations for Establishing and Managing the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve and United States Digital Asset Stockpile Going Forward, Including Which the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve and United States Digital Asset Stockpile Should be Located and the Need for Any Legislation to Operationalize Any aspect of this Order or the Proper Management and Administration of Such Accounts.
From this morning, no document of this type appears on the Treasury website, no statement has been published to the press, and the staff of the Congress of the Senate financial services and financial services confirms that nothing has been transmitted to their offices.
The Trump administration again silent on the Bitcoin reserve
Yesterday’s silence echoes a previous spear: the order also required that “within 30 days of the date of this ordinance, each agency examines its authorities to transfer any government BTC held by it to the Bitcoin Strategic Reserve and subject a report reflecting the result of this examination to the Treasury Secretary.” The 30 -day brand succeeded on April 5 without any public disclosure. Whether the audits have been completed, consolidated or even initiated remain unknown because the order does not obtain the publication.
Disagreement of official updates, the only public window on the process came from David Bailey, Managing Director of BTC Inc. and Trump’s long -standing confidant on digital issues. In an article dated April 16, Bailey wrote that the Bitcoin audit was “not yet done, some agencies asked for more time and had to be carried out in about a week”.
Bailey has since tempered expectations that the audit results will see daylight. “I never said that he would be released publicly, I expect him to be commented,” he said in an exchange of April 16 on X. His position echoes the previous remarks in which he suggested that the reserve would work as a “strong digital Knox”, a sentence that the Czar of the White House David Sacks also used in the initial email.
The question is now whether the 60 -day assessment yesterday will follow the same path to the administrative quiette. The decree does not explicitly require evaluation – nor any subsequent cash recommendation – to be made public.
At the time of the press, BTC exchanged $ 94,418.
