Key notes
- Tron Dao shared a post-event analysis of the hack on its X account.
- The protocol wants OKX to help freeze the funds belonging to the community.
- The cross support of the exchange marks a major avenue to beat the exploitation of pirates in the industry.
For a while, page X of Tron Dao was besieged by a hacker who operated unauthorized access to publish an article with a contract address. Consequently, the founder of Tron Justin Sun urged the exchange of Okx cryptocurrency to freeze the funds that would be linked to the feat.
The pirate is occupied in the Dao Tron ecosystem
In the early hours of May 3, Tron Dao, affiliated with the Tron Foundation, admitted that his account X had been compromised the day before. Once, the pirate made a message containing a contract address.
We are aware that our X account was compromised from 9:25 a.m. PST on May 2, 2025. During this period, an unauthorized part published an article containing a contract address (CA), sent direct messages (DMS) and followed various unknown accounts.
Please remember: Tron Dao Will…

The pirate also sent direct messages to several accounts while clicking on the “Follow” button for some other X profiles. Tron DAO said that none of these actions had been completed with his permission.
“Tron DAO will never publish the contractual addresses or do not send DMS not requested. If you received a DM from our account on May 2, please delete it and consider it as the work of the attacker,” said the protocol.
As confirmed, the feat came from the gaps drawn to a member of his team. The Dao Tron said: “A member of our team was targeted in a malicious social engineering attack, which led their account to be compromised.”
According to the DAO, the disconnection of the aggressor and the restoration of the access of Tron were not sufficient to stop the damage initiated by the pirate. The pirates were still able to contact the others, offering positions of the main DAO account in exchange for payment. Some funds were stolen while the hackers controlled the X account.
Justin Sun requests Okx to freeze the funds
In a twist of the plot, the pirate transferred the siphoneed funds to a portfolio linked to OKX, by Post by Justin Sun. Consequently, he asked the exchange to intervene to ensure that the assets have not been moved further and to help the investigation.
In response, OKX’s CEO star XU told Sun that his cabinet had a public cooperation policy on the law application.
This is a list of directives and procedures that oblige law organizations to collaborate with other organizations. With this, they could share information with public organizations, government agencies and non -governmental organizations.
Xu shared the link to the declaration channels where Tron DAO can delete evidence from the incident.
Dear Mr. He Justin Sun, OKX has public cooperation policy. You can offer preliminary evidence of the incident through public report channels (we will make a temporary urgent freezing depending on the evidence. Then you should work with …

He also assured the founder of Tron that a temporary frost would be done, but this will be based on the evidence provided. If the attacked protocol plans to extend the frost, it is necessary to provide legal documents to OKX. This is part of the consumer protection policy of the exchange.
Cryptographic companies support each during hacking
Although OKX has set out its policy, it should be noted that Sun’s demand for the exchange of crypto is not a new thing on the wider market.
Crypto’s exchanges do not consider a “big problem” to ask for help from their counterparts whenever they are attacked or raped. The Decentralized Kiloex trading platform has recently been attacked, making users lose $ 7.5 million.
Shortly after, Binance announced that she managed to recover $ 6.1 million from stolen funds. This recovered fund was equivalent to 90% of the total stolen assets.
Binance CEO Richard Teng said that the exchange security team acted quickly when the kiloex feat had been detected and reported. The effort was supported by additional collaborations to investigate the incident.
