The Global Payment Giant Stripe develops a stablecoin supported by an American dollar intended for companies operating outside the United States, the United Kingdom and Europe.

The CEO of Stripe, Patrick Collison, confirmed the initiative in a recent article on X, inviting companies to participate in early product tests.

The announcement follows the regulatory approval of Stripe to acquire Bridge, a network of stable payments designed to compete with traditional banking systems and transfers based on SWIFT.

Bridge was co -founded in 2022 by former Coinbase leaders Zach Abrams and Sean Yu.

Stripe Pioneed Crypto Payments in 2014 with an early bitcoin support

The involvement of Stripe in the crypto dates back to 2014 when it became the first major payment processor to support Bitcoin transactions (BTC).

However, due to the ineffectiveness of the network and high fees, the company interrupted Bitcoin’s support before relaunching its crypto ambitions in 2021 by rebuilding its blockchain team.

Since then, Stripe has accelerated his cryptography thrust. In October 2024, the company launched Stablecoin payment options, which experienced rapid adoption in 70 countries on the first day.

Earlier that year, Stripe joined Coinbase to facilitate Fiat-to-Crypto conversions.

Collison pointed out that this last Stablecoin project is something that Stripe “wanted to build for about a decade”.

Stablecoins, which are fixed to assets such as fiduciary currencies, continue to gain ground worldwide as effective tools for cross -border payments and financial stability.

In the United States, the regulatory emphasis on the stablecoins supported by the USD has intensified, the president of the federal reserve Jerome Powell calling for clear legislation.

Meanwhile, companies like Paypal have entered space, launching their own stabbed and offering performance incentives to holders.

As of April 25, the total stablecoin market capitalization amounts to 237.5 billion dollars, according to Defillama, reporting a robust demand for solutions in digital dollars in global finance.

Jack Dorsey urges the signal to adopt bitcoin for P2P payments

Earlier this month, Jack Dorsey, former Twitter CEO and Bitcoin Franc, publicly urged Messenger signal to integrate bitcoin for peers (P2P).

Dorsey’s call was taken over by David Marcus, former president of Paypal and CEO of Lightspark, who said that “all non -transactional applications should connect to Bitcoin”.

The comments reflect a growing feeling among the defenders of Bitcoin to reposition BTC not only as a reserve of value, but as a tool for practical payment.

The venture capital companies are increasingly supporting projects focused on Stablecoin and financial infrastructure services.

The potential of the sector was also underlined by the giant by the Stable Coin Platform Bridge’s Payments Giant for $ 1.1 billion last year, signaling a strong institutional interest in financial solutions based on blockchain.

Aside from Stripe, other payment companies have also adopted stablecoins as a means of payment.

More recently, the Singapore-based payment company, Triple-A, announced its intention to integrate Paypal’s stablecoin into its list of tokens taken care of for customer payments.
