Tether’s abandonment plan to freeze USDT on inherited cryptography networks, classify them “not taken care of”

The abandoned ensemble plans to freeze its USDT tokens pointed out in dollars on several older blockchains and rather chooses to classify them as “not taken care of”, according to a press release on August 29.

The change applies to networks such as Bitcoin Cash, Kusama, Eos and Algorand, among others. Users will always be able to move tokens through the wallets, but Tether will no longer publish or will no longer exchange USDT on these platforms.

The quarter of work occurred after weeks of decline in the community on the initial plan of the company, which would have locked the tokens in place and would have left them non -transferable.

Classification “ not supported ”

In June, Tether had described a transition that would start on September 1, 2025, with the whole USDT on the bang channels frozen frozen and excluded from redemptions.

This decision was formulated as a means of rationalizing operations by reducing support for networks which represented a negligible part of the activity of Stablecoin. As part of this plan, the tokens would have remained visible on a chain but actually stranded without any movement or redemption path.

Following criticism supported by developers and users on smaller ecosystems like EOS and Algorands, Tether withdraws from a hard frost. The company said that the revised approach “aligns its wider strategy” while avoiding reputation damage.

The compromise allows TETHER to finish the chains at low volume without causing user counter couples that would have been locked up with their assets.

Pivot towards bitcoin

The announcement one day after Tether disclosed plans to issue a native USDT on Bitcoin using the RGB protocol.

Unlike the wrapped tokens based on the guardian bridges, RVB integrates directly into Bitcoin scripts and validation on the customer side, making the USDT part of the safety model of the Bitcoin ecosystem.

The USDT remains the most concentrated on Ethereum and Tron, each with more than $ 80 billion in traffic, as well as smaller imprints on Solana and a few other networks.

The decision to delete support for inherited channels signals the tightening of resources on platforms with higher adoption while exciting a new field on Bitcoin.
