Ethereum developers are trying to make sure that the second blockchain lives up to one of the fundamental principles of the cryptographic community: end -to -end confidentiality.

Friday, in an article, the team of the Foundation of the Ethereum “ Privacy & Scaling Explorations ” foundation was renamed on the “stewards of the private life of Ethereum” (PSE). The team presented a roadmap to “do intimacy on Ethereum the norm rather than the exception”.

The team aims to guarantee that complete confidentiality from start to finish is integrated into the technical battery of Ethereum, protocols and infrastructures with applications and wallets. Confidentiality will be one of the main cases of use of Ethereum, such as finance, identity and governance, said the team.

At the same time, the team noted that Ethereum’s confidentiality features will remain in accordance with global regulations.

Why confidentiality on Ethereum counts

According to the PSE team, ensuring confidentiality on Ethereum is the key to protecting users who count on the blockchain. The PSE team said:

“Ethereum is about to become the regulation layer for the world, but without strong intimacy, it risks becoming the backbone of global surveillance rather than world freedom.”

In addition, without a privacy guard, users and institutions will move elsewhere, making the blockchain redundant.

Private, written and proving readings

The PSE team will focus on three main areas: private readings, private writings and private prouvance.

Private readings will allow users to read from Ethereum without revealing their identity or intentions. In other words, confidentiality at the network will guarantee that there is no surveillance leak or metadata when users question, travel or authenticate with Ethereum applications.

As part of the private reading umbrella, the team is working on the remote procedural call services (RPC) preserving confidentiality. Usually RPCs can disclose private data, such as IP addresses or interested accounts.

The PSE team will also focus on writing the writing in Ethereum in private possible and affordable. This means that sending private transfers, voting or interacting with applications will become easier.

For private entries, the team will continue to work on plasmafold, an experimental 2 layer chain which will add private transfer features.

Finally, the team will endeavor to ensure that the prouvance of any data on Ethereum is private and accessible. The roadmap also includes objectives such as improving data portability and private identity for private prouvance.

Although the team focuses on these areas in the foreseeable future, it added:

“The specific priorities and initiatives in (these) tracks will vary in their investment times and their deliverables, and will evolve with the ecosystem, but we expect these general intervention areas to persist in the coming years.”
