The Ethereum Foundation (EF) recently marked the tenth anniversary of the Ethereum blockchain with the launch of an ambitious new roadmap aimed at strengthening and extending its ecosystem for the next decade.

On the offensive front, the EF adopts a mentality of “beast mode”, with a strategic emphasis on the scaling of layer 1 (L1) and layer 2 (L2) protocols.
The Foundation is targeting significant improvements in performance over the next 6 to 12 months, targeting ambitious measures such as 10,000 transactions per second (TPS) On layer 1 and 1 million TP on layer 2, seeking to balance performance and decentralization.
The roadmap describes a series of upgrades to come through the three fundamental layers of Ethereum: consensus, data and execution. The “Lean Ethereum” initiative requires improvements that include a revamped chain of beacons, known as Beacon Chain 2.0, which promises greater security and faster purpose; An advanced data layer called Blobs 2.0, designed for post-quantum resilience; and EVM 2.0 for a more effective execution layer that maintains compatibility with existing protocols.
At the heart of this progress is the incorporation of cryptography -based cryptography, which the EF identifies as a crucial element to approach two major trends remodeling the Blockchain ecosystem: The rise in succinct non -interactive knowledge arguments (Snarks) and the imminent risks posed by quantum computer science.

The organization believes that this approach speaks of the importance of formal verification and pronounceable security, ensuring that the ETH can evolve in a responsible manner while maintaining its fundamental principles.
