The Ethereum Foundation has launched a leadership realignment designed to land Vitalik Buterin of routine coordination and crisis sorting, allowing the co-founder of the network to devote its time almost exclusively to in-depth research. The quarter of work has been disclosed by Tomasz K. Stańczak, recently appointed co-director of the Foundation, in an article on X which describes an aggressive acceleration of the Ethereum technical roadmap.
The Ethereum Foundation resumes leadership
“Our discussions on the road 1 roadmap has been important, and the comments have so far suggested that the community appreciates our ambition,” wrote Stéńczak. “Transforming this ambition into reality now depends on the objective of development teams and development researchers.” He added that, following the “recent changes in leadership at the Ethereum Foundation, we have aimed, among other things, to release Vitalik’s time for research and exploration, rather than daily coordination or crisis response.”
Stańczak stressed that Buterin’s voice “will always have weight”, but that his proposals are supposed to “start conversations and encourage progress in difficult research fields”, subject to a review of the rigorous community. “Whenever Vitalik shares ideas or communicates a direction, he accelerates major long-term breakthroughs,” he noted, citing recent Buterin tests on virtual machines based on Risc-V, which said Stéńczak, which has enabled the community around the Ethereum Foundation Community “.
Under the stewardship of Standera, the Foundation concentrates the short -term research power on layer 1 stake, the support of layer 2 and the spines of the user – in particular interoperability – in the next pectra, Fusaka and Glamsterdam protocol modules. “Within the EF, we will move a large part of our research efforts to short-term objectives, aimed at meeting the user experience and upgrading challenges in the next two protocol upgrades,” he wrote. In parallel, the teams “explore means to present projects that are currently looking for three to five years”, citing the execution of the next generation and the consensus layers as targets that could be compressed in a horizon of one to two years.
The most realized recent idea of Buterin, Buterin’s mastery – complaining the Ethereum virtual machine with a RISC -V architecture – illustrates the latitude he will now appreciate. The proposal plans to reconstruct the platform execution layer at the top of the set of instructions on open software, a overhaul which, according to him, could provide “significant efficiency gains, potentially up to 100%”, in the treatment of transactions and the execution of intelligent subcontracting. Although still at the start of the scene and subject to the culture of the rigorous verification of the foundation, the plan aligns with the intensified focus of Ethereum on the flow of layer 1 raw even when the ecosystems of layer 2 ripe in parallel.
The recalibration of leadership also aims to encourage other main researchers. Stańczak distinguished Justin Drake and Dankrad Feist, urging the community to grant them the same latitude as Buterin likes to publish exploratory ideas which could then be refined – or rejected – through an open exam. “Ethereum researchers often ask that readers recognize the exploratory nature of their messages and proposals,” he wrote, highlighting the conviction of the foundation that the high-risk investigation is a prerequisite for breakthroughs.
At the time of the press, ETH exchanged $ 1,577.
