Matt Hougan, the director of investments (IOC) of the Crypto asset management company, plans an explosion in the tokenization of traditional assets.
In a new blog article, Hougan says that the transition of actions, obligations and other active world (RWAS) on blockchains instead of traditional systems can occur much faster than it thought before.
“I always think that it will take more than a decade before the majority of shares and obligations occur on the channel. But with large financial companies like Robinhood and Tradebweb positioning themselves for the transition today, I started to wonder: could tokenization achieve an penetration of 1 to 5% in a few years?
This seems possible, and it would result in billions of dollars … More than any other application or cryptographic active, including bitcoin.
The narrative around the tokenization will only accelerate from here – if Robinhood deploys token trading, you can bet that Charles Schwab and others study the aggressively. I expected a wave of additional announcements this fall. »»
Hougan appoints several cryptographic projects that could give investors an exhibition to a boom in RWA tokenization.
“The cleanest way to invest in the rise of token is to buy a basket of the superb layer 1 and infrastructure blockchains: Ethereum, Solana, XRP, ChainLink, etc.”
Hougan also notes how Larry Fink, CEO of Blackrock, underlined the massive growth potential of Rwas’s tokenization in his annual letter of annual shareholders in 2025, saying: “Each actions, each obligation, each fund – each asset – can be token.”
If Larry Fink is right, Hougan says that the “tokenization market could increase by more than 4,000x in the coming years”.
