WhiteWhale, a Solana-based meme coin, crossed the $100 million market cap mark today after a more than 50-fold rally since early December, driven by increased retail participation and new listings in the spot and derivatives markets.
The token’s narrative is linked to a derivatives trader known online as The White Whale. In mid-2025, crypto exchange MEXC froze the trader’s account amid a dispute over approximately $3 million in funds, accusing the trader of policy violations.
The freeze triggered public backlash, chain investigations and sustained community pressure. MEXC later reversed its decision, issued a public apology and released the funds, an outcome that boosted the trader’s profile among retail participants.
The trader’s subscriber base grew further after the Oct. 10 stock market crash, when a sharp selloff in crypto assets triggered the liquidation of about $63 million in leveraged positions tied to the account.
Following these events, a meme coin with the name WhiteWhale was launched on Pump.fun. The token quickly gained traction in December, briefly reaching a market cap of $7 million before selling off and then rebounding in mid-December and early 2026.
