The Liberland free republic has reached a revolutionary step with the successful delivery of its national flag to the Moon aboard Firefly Aerospace Ghost Lunar Lander as part of the digital payload of Copernic Space. The flag, symbolizing freedom and sovereignty, was safely placed near Mons Latreille in the criesium of Mare, a vast lunar basin of immense geological meaning.
The Blue Ghost Lander, who tackled the moon at 3 h 34 hne on March 2, 2025, brand Firefly Aerospace as a second private enterprise to obtain a mild landing on the lunar surface. The mission was equipped with ten scientific and technological instruments of NASA designed to analyze the properties of the lunar regolith, geophysical characteristics and support a future human exploration within the framework of the NASA Artemis program.
The Liberland flag was delivered as part of a collection of digital artefacts hosted in the pyramid of life, a specially designed capsule ensuring its preservation in the hard environment of the moon. Support for the flag was a collection of digital works of art from the renowned Croatian artist žlimir Ilić, merging cultural heritage with advanced space technology.
To commemorate this historic mission, an NFT collection features the digital works of Ilić will be available on Waterfall Network, an advanced blockchain platform of layer 1 (L1) designed for evolutionary decentralization. This project was conceptualized by blockchain lawyer, Dr. Sergii Grybniak, research manager at Waterfall Network, in collaboration with Copernic Space, a pioneer in the digitization of space assets.
