The recent appointments of the two co-executive and president directors are part of a broader effort to strengthen the Ethereum Foundation, and this structure is designed to ensure our vision, our strategic and balanced execution, technical orientation and the development of ecosystems. This blog is intended to clarify the structure of the management team and the board of directors.
New management (strategic and operational execution)
The EF Co-Eds will direct and execute with other members of the Management. You can expect to hear members of the FE management regularly on their plans, decisions and other new changes.

Board of Directors (Surveillance and Vision)
The EF board of directors is like a security council to protect the heart and soul of the FE and to ensure compliance as a Swiss foundation. The Board of Directors defines the vision, oversees that high -level strategies and decisions by management are aligned with the values of the Foundation. The Board of Directors is also responsible for the selection of executive directors and, if necessary, at the end of the employment of executives. The current board of directors includes:
- Vitalik ButerinFounder – Continue to provide technical and intellectual advice to the wider Ethereum ecosystem
- Aya MiyaguchiPresident – Defines the vision of the Ethereum Foundation with other members of the board of directors. Manages certain key external relationships
- Patrick StorcheneggerSwiss advisor – serves as a Swiss representative for legal and compliance issues
- Hsiao-wei WangCo -executive director – serves as a bridge between the board of directors, the leaders and the management
The board of directors shared the vision, guiding the principles and objectives for the coming years with the management team. We plan to further strengthen the board of directors to better serve its mission over time.
The appointments of Tomasz and Hsiao-Wei Wang as co-eds are an unconventional decision, but which allows them to complement themselves at a busy time for the Ethereum and the FE ecosystem.
Tomasz will be able to help EF generate solid and complete changes according to its understanding of community and technological needs while it remains involved in other companies (Nethermin and affiliations to the company). The Board of Directors and Tomasz accepted the planned quarter of two years for its mixed role at EF to take advantage of its expertise and the expertise of the proven strategic execution, especially since the next two years provide important opportunities for Ethereum.
The roles of the double advice and emergency services of Hsiao-Wei, in addition to his research experience, will help him serve as a bridge between the board of directors and the management, in an eye for the needs of the organization which accompany an in-depth understanding of its history and its place.
