Today, we are delighted to announce the Pectra audit competition, by disentangling Cantina! This one month’s event will extend from February 21 to March 24And we are delighted to see what problems the safety community can find.

Why Pectra counts

Some of the Pectra Key EIPs are listed below

Eoas intelligent accounts (EIP-7702))

  • To strenghten Accounts held outside (EOAS) with intelligent contract features.

Key advantages

  • Transactions shooting: Combine several operations in a single transaction.
  • Gas sponsorship: Others can pay fees on behalf of.
  • Alternative authentication: Use hardware or Passkeys safety modules for authorization.
  • Expenditure checks: Limit use of tokens for better safety.
  • Recovery mechanisms: Protection of safer assets without modifying the main account.

Safety checks

  • Specific to the chain: Valid delegations only on a single ID channel.
  • Non-bound: Linked to the current account of the account, automatic invalidated when it changes.
  • Revocibility: The owner of the EOA can revoke / replace the existing delegations at any time.

Validator UX improvements

EIP-7251

  • Raises the balance of the maximum validator From 32 ETH to 2048 ETH.
  • Active Automatic reward composed And Consolidation of validators (Merge several validators with shared withdrawal references).

EIP-7002

  • Triggers of the execution layer: Allows an Ethereum address (not just the validator’s signature key) to trigger outings.
  • Reduces confidence in the delegation: The owner of the account (human, DAO, etc.) can force outings without counting on the validator.

EIP-6110

  • Accelerates the treatment of deposits: Cut the waiting time from approximately 9 hours to ~ 13 minutes.
  • Remove the pre-fusion stamp for the treatment of deposits (more necessary after merger).

Blob scale (EIP-7691))

  • Increases the blob capacity of Ethereum by 50% (average of 3 to 6, max from 6 to 9).
  • Blubs are short -term data for L2 testsReducing costs L1 by 10–100 ×.
  • EIP-7623 Caps worst case block size to manage a higher bandwidth.
  • Future scaling will involve Data sampling So the nodes only store Blob data subsets.

Audit scope

This competition specifically targets the Pectra code. All the discovery vulnerabilities that are not specific to Pectra must be reported through the Ethereum Foundation Bonus Program. Keeping the accent put on Pectra in this competition, we hope to surface potential problems before the fork lasts Mainnet.

Ethereum protocol attack recapat

The attack on the Ethereum protocol, which was recently organized on Immunifi, was also concluded. In collaboration with Immunifi and the initiative to finance the ecosystem, the main players in the ecosystem – Bybit, Wormhole, Arbitrum Foundation, The Graph, GMX and Base – have generously gave corresponding funds alongside the Ethereum Foundation. This collective effort highlighted the dedication of the community to the construction of a safer and more resilient blockchain ecosystem.

We look forward to your discoveries. Good luck and good audit!
