President Donald Trump’s working group on digital asset markets has until July 22 to submit its final report on a federal framework proposed for the regulation of digital assets, in particular stabbed, market surveillance and consumer protection, according to an executive decree of January 23 establishing the group.

The report will also assess the feasibility of a stock of national digital assets, although a separate decree has already established the framework of its creation.

“Within 180 days of the date of this order, the working group must submit a report to the President, through the APEP, which recommends the regulatory and legislative proposals which advance the policies established in this order,” indicates the order.

The OE was published before President Trump signed a separate decree in early March by establishing a strategic bitcoin reserve and digital asset stocks. As part of this second Crypto -based directive, all federal agencies were required to report their bitcoin and crypto assets to the Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent before April 7.

The president’s working group on the digital asset markets, which will be hosted in the National Economic Council, is led by David Sacks, the White House AI and the Czar Crypto, with the participation of key agencies, including the Treasury Department, the Department of Justice, SEC and CFTC.

Bo Hines, Executive Director of the Presidential Council for Digital Assets, a group chaired by Sacks, said last month that the administration could publish a report from the Treasury Department detailing the US Bitcoin Holdings, even if it is not necessary to do so. Hines plays a key role in developing the digital asset policy within the Trump administration.

The main responsibility of the working group is to offer a regulatory framework governing the emission and operation of digital assets, with a particular accent on stablecoins.

According to the January ordinance, the final report must address the structure of the market, monitoring, consumer protection and risk management. It should also resolve long -standing jurisdictional ambiguities between federal regulators, such as dry and CFTC.

The report can also influence the way in which federal banking regulators tackle custody of cryptography, activated / deactivated ramps and integration with the traditional financial system.

The act also explicitly prohibits federal agencies from developing or implementing CBDC initiatives, declaring that they “threaten the stability of the financial system, privacy and sovereignty of the United States”.
