About USDC and Stellar

Stellar

Stellar is an open source blockchain designed for payments. Transactions are settled in about five seconds and network fees typically cost a fraction of a cent, making them well suited to moving stablecoins at scale. Stellar manages cross-border payments, fiat on-ramps and stablecoin issuance for financial institutions, fintechs and exchanges around the world.

USDC

USDC is a fully-reserved digital stablecoin issued by Circle, backed 1:1 by US dollar reserves held at regulated financial institutions and redeemable on a 1:1 basis against US dollars. USDC on Stellar is natively issued by Circle, and not bridged, providing customers with a direct, fully reserved digital dollar on a network purpose-built for payments.

Please note:

  • Trading through Kraken App and Instant Buy will be available once liquidity conditions are met. (when enough buyers and sellers have entered the market for their orders to be effectively matched).
  • Geographic restrictions may apply

Will Kraken make more assets available?

Yes! But our policy is not to reveal any details until shortly before launch, including which assets we are considering. All available Kraken tokens can be found here, and all future tokens will be announced on our announcement roadmap and social media profiles. Our customer engagement specialists cannot answer any questions about what assets we might make available in the future.

Although the term “stablecoin” is commonly used, there is no guarantee that the asset will maintain a stable value relative to the value of the reference asset when traded in secondary markets or that the asset reserve, if any, will be sufficient to satisfy all redemptions.
