The investment company of Wall Street Proshares has announced the launch of two new funds negotiated on the stock market: the Proshares Ultra Solana ETF (SLON) and the Proshares Ultra XRP ETF (UXRP).
The two products offer a 2x lever effect exposure to Solana and XRP performance, respectively, two of the largest cryptocurrencies in the world by market capitalization.
The new SLON and UXRP launched the existing portfolio of ETFs linked to the cryptocurrency of proshares, which collectively manage more than $ 1.5 billion in assets.
In an official announcement dated July 15, the CEO of Proshares, Michael L. Sapir, said: “While cryptocurrencies become more widely adopted, investors turn to platforms like Solana and XRP for an exhibition to new generation blockchain technologies.”
However, these FNBs do not directly hold cryptocurrencies. Instead, Proshares uses financial derivatives and debt instruments to amplify the yields of underlying assets.
This structure means that ETF Sol and XRP are designed to provide daily yields that are double (2x) the performance of benchmark prices, magnifying gains and losses.
The launch follows the reception by Proshares of the approval of the registration of the New York Arca Stock Exchange (NYSE ARCA), as indicated in a letter subject to the Securities and Exchange American Commission on July 14.
Nyse Arca, one of the largest exchanges in the United States, validated regulatory compliance and the preparation of the product market.
This development creates new opportunities for institutional investors to expose themselves to XRP and Sol through traditional stock markets, offering a more accessible and regulated path compared to direct trading in cryptocurrency.
In addition, crypto-basée FNBs on future have historically obtained regulatory approvals and started to exchange more quickly than their counterparts.
Although the start date of the exact trading for Slon and UXRP does not remain confirmed, market observers have hypothesized that trading could start this week.
This launch occurs in the context of a maturing cryptocurrency market, demonstrating the continuous integration of digital assets in traditional financial infrastructure.
Double yields, double risk: what the lever effect really means
For Solana and Ripple, these ETFs could potentially improve market liquidity and attract additional institutional capital of financial companies which are previously practiced due to problems of volatility and regulatory uncertainty.
However, these investment vehicles include inherent risks that cannot be overlooked.
Given their objective of achieving double daily yields, ETFs can undergo increased volatility amplification from the price fluctuations in underlying assets, in particular during periods of market instability.
After the announcement, XRP and soil experienced price reductions, the token supported by the undulation dropped by 3.11% and Solana down 3.96% over the same negotiation period.
The entry of proshares into the XRP and Solana leverages follows similar movements by other companies.
In April, TeUcrium launched the first ETF Futures XRP, which recorded more than $ 5 million in a volume of negotiation on the day of its first day, marking the most successful product launch of the company to date.
Similarly, in March, Volatility Shares LLC introduced the first ETF Solana: The Volatility Share Solana Etf (Solz), which follows Solana Futures, and the volatility shares 2x Solana Etf (Solt), offering a lever effect exhibition.
Proshares has maintained a leadership position in ESF space since 2006, currently managing more than $ 85 billion in assets and offering one of the most complete ETF ranges in the industry.
The company introduced Cryptocurrency ETF offers with the launch of the American ETF linked to American Bitcoin (Bito) in October 2021.
Currently, Proshares operates the largest range of funds linked to cryptography in the United States, including 12 ETF and three Plu-based input funds.
In January, Proshares submitted proposals for three funds based on XRP, notably UXRP, a short XRP ETF and an ultra short XRP.
Several financial companies have submitted proposals for Cets to monitor cryptocurrencies beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum, Solana, XRP and Dogecoin emerging as the most important alternatives under study.
