In the longer term, these assets represent, in the eyes of many, the future of finance. Bitcoin occupies a unique position here, as the largest, oldest and, in many ways, simplest cryptocurrency. It exists primarily just to be sent from one address to another, with limited supply, a 15-year security history, and a powerful network. It is a store of value, still young and under-adopted, but which has faced and survived everything that the global financial universe has thrown at it. This remains a great starting point for investor education and portfolio review. Oh, and it’s the best-performing asset among all major asset classes in eight of the last 11 years.
