Why Are We Pretending We’re *Not* Part of the Market? The Sentiment Inversion Loop Has Gone Full Galaxy-Brain

Alright, I need to get this off my chest because the daily threads are getting wild.

Every morning I open the Daily Discussion and it’s the same vibe:
“Sentiment’s bearish → Time to be mega bullish because retail is always wrong!”
“Everyone’s bullish → Must be time to short, institutions are dumping on us!!”

Like… wut. When did we collectively decide we’re somehow outside the market? That we’re some kind of omniscient 4D-chess observers watching “retail” from a distance while actually being retail ourselves?

It’s like we’re all role-playing hedge fund managers in a simulation.

Here’s the thing nobody wants to say out loud:
Retail isn’t always wrong. Institutions aren’t mystical patience monks waiting decades for the perfect entry.

Big players don’t sit around stroking their chins waiting for the stars to align during a bear market.
They DCA. They accumulate. They hedge. They chase narrative pumps. They play the same market we do, except with size, tools, and better timing—not clairvoyance.

And this whole “just invert the subreddit’s sentiment bro” strategy is becoming its own feedback loop. We’ve gone from:

  1. Retail is euphoric → institutions dump.
    to
  2. Retail is scared → institutions accumulate.
    to
  3. Retail thinks retail is scared → retail turns bullish to outsmart retail.
    to
  4. Retail thinks retail thinks retail is scared → ???

Like at this point we’re running a sentiment Russian doll.

Sometimes, bearish sentiment is just… bearish sentiment. Sometimes people are worried because macro is trash or the charts look rough. Not everything is a contrarian signal. Not everything is “smart money vs. dumb money.”

We are the market.
Our fears, greed, hopium, and despair all contribute. Pretending we're somehow outside of it just makes us blind to what’s actually happening.

TL;DR:
Stop assuming that inverting the subreddit is alpha. Institutions buy low during bear markets because they want gains, not because they're meditating on the mountain waiting for us to capitulate. And we should stop pretending we're watching retail from afar—we are retail.
