The XRP Ledger is quietly moving away from its initial reputation as a simple payment network. It is now positioned as a blockchain designed for institutional tokenization of real-world assets.
Trensik, a platform focused on verified RWAs on XRPL, says tokenization needs operational rails, not promises of future upgrades. And XRPL already has the five building blocks: on-chain native asset issuance, a built-in decentralized exchange (DEX), compliance features, three-to-five-second settlement, and Ripple’s regulated stablecoin, RLUSD.
Tokenization tools already in place
Institutions can issue, trade, and settle tokenized assets such as U.S. Treasuries, real estate, private credit, and corporate bonds entirely on-chain. Settlement occurs in seconds using XRP or RLUSD, reducing delays, lowering counterparty risk and enabling 24/7 markets.
Adoption is accelerating. US Treasuries tokenized on XRPL have grown from around $50 million to over $418 million over the past year, an eight-fold increase that suggests institutions are gaining confidence in the network for real-world financial products.
Portfolio integration extends reach
XRPL is also expanding its user base through ecosystem integrations. In partnership with XRPL Commons, LOBSTR Wallet, one of Stellar’s most popular wallets with over 1.5 million users, has added support for XRPL.
The first phase, available on iOS and Android, allows users to hold and transfer tokens issued by XRP and This integration strengthens interoperability between the two ecosystems and significantly expands the accessibility of XRPL.
AI agents as catalysts for growth
RippleX also sees artificial intelligence as a major growth driver. The company’s head of engineering recently predicted that autonomous AI agent transactions on XRPL could increase from around 1 million today to between 10 and 100 million in the coming years. As AI agents execute payments, purchase digital services, and interact with tokenized assets without human assistance, they need a blockchain with fast, inexpensive, and reliable settlement. XRPL’s near-instant finality, native tokenization, built-in liquidity, and regulated stablecoin support seem well-suited to this demand.
These developments reinforce the role of XRPL as institutional financial infrastructure. With production-ready tokenization tools, growing RWA adoption, expanding wallet distribution, and growing AI-driven use cases, the XRP Ledger is positioning itself as the foundation for the next wave of digital finance and the next tokenization boom.
