The Ripple token’s price drop occurred even after a strong launch of the Bitwise XRP ETF on the New York Stock Exchange with a trading volume of around $22 million, marking a milestone for investors seeking regulated access to this altcoin.

The launch of the XRP ETF generated excitement from the community, but it failed to provide significant support to the XRP price amid a wave of selling.

XRP Price Drops as Whale Selling Hits XRP

The price of XRP has been falling all week, pushed down by whale investors dumping their holdings and retail traders fleeing in panic. Data shows that long-term investors, who had previously held onto their positions during previous rallies, are now turning to withdrawals as market activity increases.

Even small holders, mostly those with less than 100 XRP, are joining the sell-off, with Santiment data recording a sharp decline in short-term holding addresses. This shift marks a shift from optimism to anxiety among investors.

Nearly 41.5% of all XRP is now lost, and only 58.5% of the supply is still profitable.

With the price of XRP contracting to around 2.0, the 30D-EMA of daily realized losses reached around $75 million per day. This is the highest level since April 2025.

This is the weakest position since November 2024, when XRP touched $0.53. Profit-taking after the launch of major ETFs is quickly becoming the norm.

On-chain metrics also show that profit supply is shrinking, short-term hodlers are leaving quickly, and many wallets are taking coins back to exchanges. When more and more XRP moves from wallets to exchanges, it is often an indication that holders are preparing to sell, not buy.

This behavior maintains price pressure during market downturns and makes rebounding more difficult, even with positive developments like the launch of the Bitwise XRP ETF.

XRP Price Technical Analysis: Key Support and Resistance Levels

XRP price fell from important support near $2.20 as sellers quickly pushed the price through the 50-day simple moving average (SMA) at $2.45 and the 200-day SMA at $2.62, both turning into resistance.

The next major support area lies between $1.85 and $2.00, highlighted by the yellow band on the chart. This area saw strong buying interest earlier in the year and could attract new buyers if prices stabilize.

Above, resistance lies between $2.45 and $2.62, with the 50-day and 200-day SMAs poised to block any rebound. If XRP manages to reclaim this zone, an upward push to $2.71 (the 23.6% Fibonacci retracement) could be possible, but selling pressure remains strong.

Previous highs of $3.40 and $3.66 are far away and unlikely in the near term unless sentiment changes quickly.

Key indicators confirm a negative outlook. The relative strength index (RSI) fell to 31, showing that XRP is heavily oversold, but it is not yet signaling a reversal. The MACD (Moving Average Convergence Divergence) indicator is bearish, with the blue MACD line below the orange signal line and both in negative territory, highlighting the dominance of sellers.

If price fails to hold above $1.85, further losses towards $1.60 or even the 78.6% Fibonacci retracement near $1.11 could occur quickly. The next major support is $0.48, last seen during periods of extreme fear in late 2024.

For now, the outlook for XRP remains cautious. Short-term declines may provide opportunities for courageous buyers, but the trend remains negative.
