XRP whale dominance returns to Binance as Coinbase data tells different story

XRP is struggling below $1.40 as selling pressure keeps the price in a range that has frustrated bulls for weeks without allowing the breakout required by the recovery narrative. The market is cautious, but a CryptoQuant analysis tracking exchange-level flow data has identified a divergence in behavior between two of the world’s largest crypto sites, which adds a structural dimension to the current setup that the price chart alone cannot reveal.

The analysis examines the composition of XRP outflows on Binance, particularly the share of daily withdrawals dominated by transactions above one million XRP, the threshold that typically identifies whale-scale activity. This share increased to 57.6%, the highest figure since the peak of 66% recorded on March 28. A similar high figure emerged at the end of April, close to 60%. Three separate instances of whale pullback dominance, all occurring within the same price zone of $1.33 to $1.42.

The repetition creates a pattern that the analysis identifies as structurally significant. The largest holders of XRP move the coins away from Binance at high rates every time the price enters this specific range – not in a single event, but consistently, repeatedly. Whether this behavior reflects accumulation, repositioning, or preparation for a move is the question that the Coinbase comparison begins to answer.

Coinbase’s data tells a completely different story – and the divergence between the two sites is where the most important analytical signal lies.

The split tells the real story

Coinbase data completes the picture that reading Binance alone cannot provide. On Coinbase, the category of XRP outflows above 1 million fell to 14.8%, its lowest level since April 11. Simultaneously, the mid-sized wallet category of 10,000 to 100,000 XRP outflows increased from 19% to 36% between April 11 and May 19. Coinbase does not see whale dominance in its withdrawals. There is a shift toward small and medium-sized participants moving coins – a structurally different behavioral profile than Binance currently displays.

The divergence between the two sites creates the most specific analytical signal available in the current XRP market. Binance is experiencing new whale withdrawal dominance at 57.6%. Coinbase is experiencing the opposite: its largest outflow category is at a six-week low, while mid-sized activity is increasing. Two exchanges, the same asset, completely different participant behaviors at once.

The price zone that connects the three instances of whale pullback dominance – $1.33 to $1.42 – is now the level every XRP trader should be watching. Large holders have become active in this range three times. The current figure of 57.6% suggests they are active again.

CryptoQuant analysis does not go so far as to declare the signal definitively bullish or bearish – and that honesty is appropriate. Whale withdrawals from trade may reflect accumulation, self-custody migration, or repositioning prior to movement in either direction. What the data confirms is that larger XRP participants behave differently than smaller ones, and they do so at a price level that they have chosen many times before.

XRP Price Analysis: Bulls Continue to Defend Key Support Zone

XRP continues to trade within the same compressed range that has defined price action since March, with the asset currently holding near the $1.36 level after another rejection below the $1.45 resistance zone. The daily chart shows a market stuck between weakening momentum and persistent support, creating a structure that increasingly resembles a buildup rather than a trend continuation.

The most important detail is the repeated defense of the region between $1.30 and $1.33. Since February’s violent capitulation, each significant return to this zone has attracted buyers, preventing a deeper breakdown despite broader crypto market weakness. At the same time, bulls repeatedly failed to reclaim the 200-day moving average near $1.50, leaving XRP structurally constrained.

Volume also continues to contract from the February sell-off, confirming that volatility and directional conviction have eased significantly. The market no longer experiences aggressive liquidations or panic selling. Instead, XRP appears to be entering an equilibrium phase of low liquidity where buyers and sellers await a catalyst.

Technically, the current structure remains neutral to bearish while prices trade below the major moving averages. However, sustained consolidation above $1.30 keeps the broader base intact. A break above $1.45 could trigger momentum towards the $1.60 region, while a loss of $1.30 would likely expose XRP to another test of the February lows.
