The best exchanges of Crypto Binance and Coinbase will temporarily put the deposits and withdrawals of Ethereum (ETH) in preparation for the next pectra upgrade of the network.
Binance said that ETH and tokens on layer 2 networks like Arbitrum, Optimism, Base, Scroll, Worldcoin and Zksync will be affected. The exchange break begins at 09:45 (UTC).
The exchange has deepened that if trading will continue without interruption, users will not be able to move funds in or out of the upgrade window. This action helps prevent the potential problems of forks or the reorganization of the network.
Given this, the exchange urged users to plan to fill or remove assets to act before the break.
Coinbase has echoed the same approach, confirming that ETH transfers will be suspended as a precaution during the upgrade process.
The exchange led by Brian Armstrong has indicated that new requests for implementation will take place up to 3 h 45 PT, although the existing marked assets will remain intact.
Ethereum pectra upgrade
Pectra upgrade represents an important technical step for Ethereum. It combines proposals for Prague and Electra upgrades to rationalize the user experience and developer operations.
Pectra incorporates eight Ethereum improvement proposals (EIPS), with a significant change attracting attention.
The notable proposal, EIP-7702, introduces the abstraction of the accounts. This function allows regular crypto wallets to behave like intelligent contracts. Consequently, users can possibly pay gas fees using tokens other than ETH.
However, the road to this upgrade was not fluid. Ethereum developers were faced with finalization problems on the Holesky Testnet with bugs linked to incorrect deposit contract addresses. They caused chain divisions and instability.
A separate problem on the Sepolia testnet, triggered by personalized deposit contracts, also disrupted the treatment of blocks.
Due to these setbacks, the developers have launched a new Testt called Hoodi to finalize the tests.
After successful test tests, Ethereum nuclei developers confirmed that Pectra upgrade will be posted later on May 7.
Despite media threshing and anticipation of upgrade, the price of ETH has barely evolved. Data from Cryptoslate shows only an increase of 1.5% in the last 24 hours, the token exchanges at around $ 1828 from press time.
