Immutable (IMX) recorded its largest exchange outflows of 2026 after more than 4.67 million IMX left exchange wallets in a single day. The sharp reduction in exchange-held supply reflects increasing accumulation behavior as traders have moved tokens toward long-term holding strategies instead of immediate selling activity.
Santiment data also linked the spike in releases to renewed optimism around Web3 games and the broader expansion of Immutable X’s ecosystem throughout 2026. The network continued to strengthen its gaming infrastructure through the development of zkEVM, AI-driven gaming tools and partnerships with multiple game studios.
As a result, the latest pullback wave suggests that traders have begun to position themselves for a broader recovery phase in gaming-related crypto assets rather than preparing for another aggressive distribution cycle.
Bullish Traders Still Dominate IMX Positioning
Binance’s positioning as a top trader continued to favor bullish exposure despite IMX struggling below higher resistance zones throughout May.
At press time, 60.12% of top trader accounts remained long, while only 39.88% were positioned short, leaving the Long/Short ratio near 1.51. The positioning structure reflects the continued confidence of leveraged traders, even after IMX failed to reclaim its neckline resistance.
Earlier in May, bullish exposure increased further before calming down during the recent consolidation phase. However, traders continued to maintain a net long bias instead of aggressively moving towards bearish positioning.
The structure of derivatives therefore reflects cautious optimism rather than panic selling. If buying pressure builds near current support zones, the elevated long exposure could continue to support another attempt towards the upper resistance structure.

Can IMX recover the neckline break?
IMX continued to consolidate above the critical support at $0.163 while the inverse head and shoulders structure remained active on the daily time frame. Price action previously formed the left shoulder around March, while April’s decline established the head structure around the $0.133 low.
Recent recovery attempts then shaped the right shoulder before price pushed towards neckline resistance near $0.202. However, buyers failed to maintain strength above this region, causing further rejection towards the intermediate consolidation zone.
At the time of writing, the RSI has cooled sharply and was hovering near 45.44 after approaching overheated conditions earlier in May. The decline in the indicator reflects weakening buying strength rather than aggressive bear control.
If IMX successfully defends the $0.163 support, buyers could attempt a further push towards the neckline resistance. A break above $0.202 would likely reinforce expectations of recovery towards higher resistance zones.

Funding structure still favors long traders
IMX’s OI-weighted funding rate remained positive despite several short-term fluctuations throughout May. The latest figure hovered around 0.0019% at the time of writing, showing that long traders were still paying premiums to maintain bullish positions in derivatives markets.
Although funding periodically fell into negative territory early in the month, bullish positioning quickly returned afterward as traders continued to defend their recovery expectations.
Positive funding rates generally reflect stronger long holding instead of aggressive short-term dominance. Additionally, derivatives sentiment remained relatively stable despite IMX trading below neckline resistance.

IMX continued to attract bullish positioning despite struggling below critical resistance at $0.202.
Massive FX outflows, positive funding rates and dominant long exposure reflect growing confidence in the market. Meanwhile, the inverse head and shoulders pattern remained intact above the $0.163 support zone.
If buyers successfully reclaim neckline resistance, IMX could strengthen its broader recovery structure and attract new speculative demand for gaming-related crypto assets.
Final summary
- The IMX outflows suggest traders have turned to accumulation rather than immediate FX-based selling pressure.
- Bullish derivatives positioning remained dominant while IMX defended the critical $0.163 support zone.
